Topper Industries is seeking an experienced welder/fabricator to produce aluminum and steel products according to customer and employer specifications. The ideal candidate will be willing to work on-site as well as in-house to complete jobs for customers on time and on budget.

Responsibilities:

  • Create quality welds according to drawings (weld symbols)
  • Perform GTAW, MIG, TIG, GMAW, FCAW, SMAW as needed
  • Select proper fillers for jobs based on previous experience or project instructions
  • Inspect welds for accuracy
  • Prepare product to be welded by grinding, drilling, milling, tapping, and cutting aluminum/steel parts
  • Change weld wire and shielding gas as needed
  • Plan, organize and direct the activities of the weld shop
  • Prioritizes and assigns work to personnel and prioritizes own work.
  • Communicates with coworkers, supervisors, and representatives from other departments to establish and maintain effective working relationships. 
  • Resolves work-related problems by researching and using appropriate repair practices.
  • Responsible for the proper packaging, identifying, and moving of all finished products to the proper location
  • Ensure all equipment is properly set-up and used in a safe manner and that all safety devices are in use
  • Be trained and operate a forklift, if required
  • Monitor equipment and request maintenance when required
  • Perform simple maintenance and repair as required
  • De-bur and grind metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture
  • Understand and implement personal and company safety measures by wearing required PPE
  • Position requires the ability to operate precision measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, protractors, and tape measures

Requirements:

  • Must pass a welding test
  • Knowledge of lead/supervisory practices and methods
  • May be required to respond to emergencies and take appropriate actions
  • Skilled in both mechanical and manual welding practices
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Extensive knowledge of various cutting techniques, including oxy-fuel and plasma
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to bend, lift, and push up to 80 pounds
  • Satisfactory completion of a background check and drug screen

Experience:

  • High school diploma/GED preferred
  • 5+ years of experience operating as a commercial welder
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience working with power tools
  • Knowledge of construction site best practices and safety procedures

Topper Industries is a structural design & fabrication company. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the team as a fabrication shop foreman. Must have leadership welding, and fabrication experience along with general computer experience.

Essential Functions of the Job

General duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Oversee and manage up to 35 shop floor employees
  • Manage materials and inventory for jobs
  • Perform Quality Control on all jobs in the shop, inspect welds for quality and integrity
  • Conduct employee training in equipment operations and safety procedures
  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet metal department production goals.

Structural design & fabrication company seeking a highly motivated individual to become our Project Manager. Experience in project management required. 

The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, organizing, and managing all operations of projects from sales to production all the way through to construction. The Project Manager will work closely with customers, suppliers, and sub-contractors as well as the site, fabrication, operations, and engineering personnel.  A critical component of this role is to create project work schedules, ensure they are completed as specified, as well as coordinate timely shipment of all material to project sites.  Additionally, the Project Manager may procure all materials, equipment, and/or subcontractors necessary to complete all fieldwork for cost efficiency. 

Essential Functions of the Job

General duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • responsible for all aspects of the project life cycle: planning, execution, and delivery
  • match employees with specific tasks based on their skill or expertise, create and post work schedules, and update workers about schedule changes and deadlines
  • ensure quality control is maintained to the utmost standard
  • build strategic relationships with internal customers and external equipment suppliers to ensure continued alignment and success – before, during, and post-project implementations

  • As required to ensure all Project Site Completion; possibly about 20%

Requirements

  • Mandatory:  5+ years experience with Project Management, preferably in the construction industry, knowledge of building codes

Topper engineers and fabricates bridges, catwalks, marine gangways, and a variety of custom projects in steel and aluminum.

DUTIES
– Produce detailed print sets of pre-made models per company standards
– Revision control of existing drawings
– Maintain file organization
– Work closely with the design and engineering teams to correct any issues
– Effectively communicate schedule and workload to the team

QUALIFICATIONS
– 5+ years detailing structural components is a plus
– Proficiency in Inventor desired. SolidWorks and other 3D CAD programs considered
– Satisfactory completion of a background check and drug screen
– Shall be familiar with creating detailed drawings and dimensioning
– Knowledge of structural fabrication and weld symbols is required
– Experience in civil design is a plus
– Some AutoCAD experience is helpful
